Kenwood 9260BT jammed faceplate

Hi,
I recently removed the faceplate from my 9260BT when the car was out of the garage overnight. A touch-button causes the faceplate to slide down into a supine position, exposing a button which, when pressed, release the faceplate from its mounting-clips. After 5 seconds the mount returns to its empty position.

When I tried to replace the faceplate the next day, it slipped from my fingers and is now jammed in place. It's slightly off-centre, and I think that only one of the three clips on the backing-plate is engaged. The problem is that the faceplate isn't sufficiently engaged for it to power on, so I can't get it to slide down so I can remove and re-seat it. However it IS fixed sufficiently in place that I can't get the b*gg*r off again!

It's a Catch-22 situation: I need the power on to open the slide and remove the faceplate, but I can't get the power on until I remove and re-seat the faceplate.

Does anyone know how to get out of this? I have an appointment at the garage but it's a week away.
