As TomTom haven't added the 1000 to the online manuals only the few people who own one can help you.

Presumably there's no option in Preferences to disable the 'car parks near destination' feature, in which case you'll probably have to put up with it. If TomTom hadn't prevented access to the file system you could have removed the bmp file or replaced it with something less intrusive, as people have with annoying displays in earlier models.

Make sure in 'Make your own Menu' that Navigate to Parking Facilities is unchecked

That manual is rather wrong in a number of areas, satarting with the second page "Whats in the box" how many users who have purchased this unit got exactly whats shown on this page? Think about that cable you leave in the car when you need to update your unit, or the cable thats connected to the PC when its needed in the car for powering up the unit - You only get a single cable not the two shown in the manual.

Skip forwards to page 37 and apparently its got a light sensor in it for backlight control - Somehow I rather doubt that claim.

Not going to dig too far in to it though as I have better things to do, I did provide a comprehensive list of errors contained in that manual to TomTom when I first pulled it from the FCC web site, the only part thats changed AFAIK is the picture showing the device with a removable memory card has been replaced! Page 45 even tells you to make a full back up prior to pressing the "Reset Factory Settings" I would love to know how a user is suposed to carry that out - Mike

I wonder why they haven't added it to the list of available manuals in their support section here. Confused I had checked, and the latest model included is the x50.

Edited to correct the quote! Embarassed

Probably the same reason the latest US models take weeks to get listed as available. They're too busy with press releases to be bothered with keeping their own websites up-to-date. Confused

You were lucky then, you should have got a USB cable and a cigarette lighter plug with a USB socket on its rear rather than two separate cables.
