Mark has provided a review which I will get laid out and published in the next day or two and TrafficMaster have been in touch and are going to provide us with access to the iPhone App so that we can review it after Christmas.

Weird. So no music at all?!

Yes no music from the device at all, only the car radio system.

I have been using this for a few days now. Where the TomTom says road clear the trafficmaster reroutes me(because there are delays!). I have used a trafficmaster touch for over a year and found it invaluable. The downside is it was just too big. I have my iphone running through an ioplay and the car stereo comes with a 32gb sd card reader,so,I am not so fussed about the trafficmaster overiding the ipod music. I just use google from the iphone for postcodes of POI and away I go.For £24.99 I think its superb. I travel well over 1000 miles per week,so,traffic jams are the bane of my life.I have found trafficmaster customer service very efficient when dealing with queries.

I wanted to plan a route from Hertfordshire to Kent avoiding the Dartford Crossing. I had avoid toll roads selected in settings but that made no difference, it still wanted to direct me over QE2 Bridge. I sent Trafficmaster an email to query this and there reply was that the M6 was the only toll road they new of!

Not very encouraging! I now have the Trafficmaster Companion app installed on my iPhone but have yet to test it.

Personally I can't see how this could ever be better than a map based device which allows you to verify your destination. I prefer the ability to view a map rather than the basic turn directions presented via this app.

Traffic data is not unique to Trafficmaster but its only fair that I reserve final judgement until we have used it in anger.

I see there's a new "Lite" version available free in the App Store, which appears to use a PAYG model (requires premium rate call to obtain all routes):

The review of the full product is on my todo list. I've used it and dislike it.

Whilst the navigation side is OK, I can't see what benefits the £1.50 call to request a route offer that justify the cost nor does it save a huge amount of time except where the limited address lookup prevents manual location entry!

So a LITE version that drops the only useful part is not going to win more points from me.

Just to say this app is now £34.99.

It has routed me efficiently around traffic delays to the extent of routing me right up to the line of brake lights and then off on a country jaunt around the traffic.

It's very disconcerting not having a map, though.

I'm writing a review of this and trying not to be disparaging! The new PAYG version is even more difficult to justify.

Unless you find entering addresses particularly tiresome then I can think of no reason why this betters any of the other navigation apps and there are some that are cheaper AND don't attract the ridiculous fees for each route requested.
