|
|
I have the Kenwood DNX5240BT and have been unable to find out which poi file I can use.
I would like as comprehensive speed camera cover as possible and I am unsure which of the garmin poi downloads available actually provide the most cover.
I would also like to have French cameras on the sat nav, please advise which file gives me the most comprehensive cover there too.
thanks |

HI and welcome.
The downloads are split in to regions so the UK cameras are in the UK download and the French cameras are in the EURopean download.
Each download (Speed Zoned or Consolidated) contains the same data but arranged differently. Speed Zoned is divided by Speed Limit and Consolidated by Camera type. |

Thank you, could you explain to me the difference in use with my kenwood between the two choices of file that you mention? Will one provide me with better alerts than the other for example?
Bottom line is should I use speed zoned or camera type? |

With Speed Zoned the icons will show you the speed limit and type of camera.
With Consolidated the icon will indicate the camera type but not the speed. |

There is no limit on the number of downloads you can make during your subscription period so you can download both and see what each download contains. You can try them both out to see which you prefer. |

Sorry but an after thought, will both camera and speed files warn me of locations even if my speed is below the limit? |

I'm drunk.
But on my Tom Tom, yes it will.
As long as I have all the various warnings for the various cameraas active, it will warn you wherever there is a camera, or in the case of mobiles where a camera has been reported previously. _________________ Triumph Tbird 1700. And now a Bonnie T100. |

I don't have the unit you have so i don't know. In the past Garmin units didn't and the icon only appeared when over the limt. However later models did show the icon at all times.
However what i can say is that which ever database you choose they'll both behave the same way. Either they'll both show all the time or only when speeding. This is a setting that Kenwood and Garmin would have agreed and nothing to do with PGPSW. |
