I've just upgraded to CP8 from CP7, with no problems. Everything they said to do in the instructions worked on my Orbit2.

I don't think the upgrade is going to change my life, though. There's one feature of the upgrade that I find totally annoying, and that's the loud announcement "Welcome to Co-Pilot 8 Live Professional" that come every time the software is started. I've had it go off in meetings when I've accidentally tapped the Co-Pilot icon, and it just seems to be unnecessary.

I contacted Co-Pilot support, more in hope than expectation of any reply. Well, three days later they replied. Users may be interested to note that the announcement message CANNOT be turned off, according to Support.

Other than muting the 'phone before accessing CP8, and then turning the sound back on, has anyone any suggestions for getting around this, or are we just stuck with it?

Cheers,

Tom

In the Android version all you have to do is delete/rename the "cppwelcome.ogg" file in the directory for the voice you have selected. I have no idea if this works in the WinMob version however.

Correction, the file that needs to be renamed/deleted is "cppwelcomelive.ogg".

Thanks did this although I think you meant: cppwelcomelive.ogg. I found it in the folder for the voice I use - in my case Emma and just renamed it. Works a treat - thanks for the tip.

Thanks guys.

There are actually several similar .ogg files. I had to rename the "cpwelcomelivepro.ogg" file for it to work for me. Guess it depends what version you have installed. I couldn't get it to work to begin with, until I realised I was in the folder for the wrong voice!

I guess this was a fix that CP support was never going to own up to.

I just noticed in the current Android version (8.0.0.494) there is an option under "Sound" named "Say Welcome to CoPilot Live" which is enabled by default.

It can now be switched off in the Windows Mobile Smartphone version 8.0.0.555. Who would actually want it switched on?
