Just been prompted to update, doing an explorer back up now.

No details of changes on supplied link www.tomtom.com/6141

Edit: Just noticed it says on Home update page that this for the 940 Live but could be because thats what I've got.

I'm now being offered it. Also a US map (825.2157), which I don't remember having been offered before.

You've just jogged my memory JockTamsonsBairn:

1. With two maps on the unit is there a free update guarantee for both?

2. Do you have to swap maps to get it?

3. Would you then have to register for two update services at 40 quid a year?

That's hardly a new map...... 835 (soon to be 840) is the current one.

Yes, I thought that the US maps were keeping step (numerically) with the European ones Laughing
Having checked, it is the same version as I have loaded, so I think (an expert will correct me) that this has been triggered by me renaming the existing map (in the PNA) when I added an SD card. (North_America_SD)

From memory, the LMG covers both maps.

I don't think so, Home can tell what maps & versions you have.

Yes.

Thanks.

I checked my NA map pna file for the original and now, and it's gone from v810 to v835 so I could have answered my own question.

It's always nice to have someone to confirm though Smile

I was hoping it would fix the issue of the remote not working in the mobile phone menu sections. No such luck, on TomTom's ususal performance it should be fixed by the end of the decade!

After installing a FW update, could someone remind me of the file/folder I need to reinstall from backup to retain my Favourites? Thanks.

My favourites were retained, is it different with the unit you've got?

The file you need is called MapSettings.cfg and will be found within the map folder. Be prepared for the possibility that the new file created with the update may have a different format and that replacing it with an older one may not work. So just rename the current MapSettings.cfg file to something like MapSettingsold.cfg before copy/pasting to old one over. Then it will be easy to just to delete the old one and rename the original again if things don't work.

On my old 520, Favourites aren't always retained after an upgrade. Call it insurance! Haven't been offered the new Navcore yet.

That page seems to get updated randomly.

My XL LIVE IQ Routes was supplied with 8.413 4 months ago. On day one there was an update to 8.417 available.

A week or two ago 8.419 came out.

According to the above link

Version 8.413
(TomTom XL LIVE IQ Routes)

* This application version is the minimum requirement for the TomTom XL LIVE IQ Routes.

So, it is only two updates and at least 4 months out of date, yet x50 and START have been added since then.
