Hi I have a Rider 2 and a Rider1. don't ask, complicated.

anyway, I have all Honda m/c dealers for the uk on the Rider1 but am unable to copy and paste them onto the Rider 2. Is there an obvious reason for this, or is it not possible? If not possible, does anyone have a link I can use to put them onto the Rider 2? Please. I must not forget my manners, my mother would be mortified Embarassed

I'm not aware of any special protection on the Riders. Confused On other TomToms, the POI sets are .ov2 files in the folder with the map details - the name will be similar to the one shown on the Rider eg Honda.ov2. You may have a .bmp file as well to show the logo on screen.

If you are able to connect the Riders to your PC, you should be able to copy the files to your PC from the Rider1 then copy them to the folder on the Rider2.

If this doesn't work, let us know what you have tried and what errors etc have been shown.

According to the files on the tomtom rider2 which is connctd to the pc, there is a poi for honda moto. there is a bitmap image and an ov2 file. however, if i try to find this in the rider 2 by selecting operate my rider, and then navigate to, it is not there.

any thoughts welcome

The first thing that springs to mind is, how many POI's have you added to the Rider?

Check, with Windows Explorer how many OV2 files you have in the Current Map Folder, (NOT the folder named 'map').

i have opened the folder where the poi's are stored on the rider2, and there are several different file types all using the smae name. i thought you only needd 2 - ov2 and bitmap. there are also tlv and and ver files. i have alsso looked at earlier backups from the rider 1 and all the poi's are showing up as tlv files.

what on earth does all this mean?!

i'm lost!

The .tlv files are used by home and are usually found in the Folder named poi.

The OV2 and BMP Files should be in a Folder called United Kingdon & ROI, or something similar.

It is only the OV2 Files that you need to count.

Okay I have justchecked which files are located in the POI folder, and they are:
Bitmap - 131
CFG - 2
DAT - 9
DCT - 12
INC - 1
LOCAL - 2
MIDI SEQUENCE - 1
MMS - 1
PNA - 1
TLV - 46
Tyre TomTom Point of Interest - 188
VER - 174

Having done this does this mean that there are files which should not be there? If so, which should I remove, and then where should they be within the prgramme?

Please remember, I am not very knowledgeable on this stuff, and would appreciate step by step instructions on any changes that might be required.

Many thanks for your help to date.

One other point I meant to mention earlier, some of the files are are considerably larger than others. Is this significant?

We're nor interested with the "poi" folder. That is used for all sorts of things.

In the folder with the name of your map eg "United Kingdom and ROI" or "Western Europe" or something like that, count up all the files ending in .ov2. Use Windows to check this and not Home.

Oops. told you i wasn't very used to this. any way, in the folder for "Western Europe" there are 13 files for TTPOI and 13 VER files.
In the folder, "UK &ROI" there is 1 TTPOI nd 1 VER file.

so why are there more listed under the POI folder, and still others listed in seperate map folders?

Any chance i could call you back to talk this over the phone?

If it’s any help I had the same problem with my Rider 1 and the Honda POI's from this site. The 1st time I downloaded them I could see them in the folder using windows explorer. But the Rider could not see them.
I just deleted them in explorer and down loaded and reinstalled them.
All worked OK the 2nd time.

I think you may be having problems because you cannot see the ".ov2" at the end of the filenames.
If that's the case:
Quote:
The only safe way is to describe the FULL filename including the three letter extension (.txt for text files, .exe for programs .ov2 for POIs etc.)

If you cannot see those extensions, you need to enable the correct view in Windows Explorer or My Computer:

To get Windows to show you the three letter extensions to the file names, do this:
Start either 'My Computer' or 'Windows Explorer' and:
Go to the 'Tools' Menu,
Select 'Folder Options'
Select the 'View' tab
Scroll down the list of entries and UN-tick "Hide extensions for known file types"

(While you are there, you could also TICK 'Show hidden files and folders" too. While not strictly necessary, this will let you see EVERYTHING on your PC's and TomTom's storage).

The above is for Windows XP, I the process is pretty similar for Vista...
Click Computer to get a display of your drive letters then at the top left of this screen is a button labeled "Organize" click this then select the "View" tab and continue as above.

Once you've done that, can you just check that the Honda .ov2 POI files are definitely in your "Western Europe" or "UK&ROI" map folder, and NOT in the "POI" folder.
