TomTom 740 keeps getting lost

Had this happen for the first time this morning on my GO540 Live - completely lost its way repeatedly, seemingly going across land, water and wanting to turn back on itself.
Powered down and held for a restart (though didn't get to TomTom black & red startup screen) and that seemed to fix it.
Unit was in an active cradle and following a route.

this is one of the things that was happening to my TT740L -- so much so that with other things it was returned to Scotland on two occasions..
But to be honest I think they only check the hardware side and don't do any thing with the software.

Got it back just before going on holiday to Spain/France
[after packing my faithful Classic in the glove compartment]
We travelled all over the Pyrenees and it happened twice -- totally lost and had to be switched off and rebooted..

That was all -- I don't know whether to get back on to services AGAIN or just sit on my hands -- it hasn't happened since being back in the UK - 3 weeks --

I love the 740L -- But it does seem very fragile and slips of signal very easy.
Why don't they [TT] have a dedicated centre that checks the software and updates it for you -- I would willingly pay a fee for this !
