I used to use rechargeable 2800mAh but they never seemed to last on a long journey?

So what is the best to use?

Either higher powered ones, or try some new ones. Rechargables will loose lifetime as they get older.

Must admit I did tend to charge them every time I was going to use them. So I may have killed them by over charging perhaps?

Would using a normal battery make any difference or would it be too lower power?

I’ve tried rechargeable batteries with my i3. Mine are 2500mAH, but as you say they don't last that long, always needed several sets for one long trip (say 4-5 hours). Standard Alkaline batteries do seem to last longer (say 3-4 hours for one set), but the cost rules them out. My i3 still works okay with the USB car charger, so just stick to that now if I ever use it Laughing

I believe there is a power kit for motorbikes somewhere. However i used to be able to do a 5.5 hour motorway journey on one pair of 2700 mAh batteries at first. Later i used to have to change halfway. At the end they didn't last 5 minutes. This was with almost daily use around London with the occassional long haul...

Try a set of Energiser Lithium cells in the device, these are quite costly but they last considerably longer than anything else currently available, make sure it says "Lithium" on the packet though as there are oter Energiser cells that look very similar and they are cheaper but no where near as good - Mike
