Great review!

So - just to clarify once and for all - if you buy the Navigon 4 software with their wired GPS/TMC mouse, TMC will work within the UK?

Do they have cable options for old (IE Compaq) iPAQs?

Thanks.

Question 1: Yes (And I have got it confirmed personally in France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Switserland and Italy...)

Question 2: I do not know. However the GPS/TMC mouse is manufactured by someone else who have more cable option I think. Just slipped my mind who makes them....I'll check later when I am out of the office....

I'll do the 4 review when I get a moment, unless someone else has already got it installed.....Hopefully I can 'work' from Home on Friday so I get a chance...

Something I am still unclear about. Is the MBNE from Navigon Germany the same software as that in the Tchibo and / or Aldi and / or Halfords package? Everything seems to be called Navigator! They look very simialr, but that might be deceptive.

It is actually a different product. especially the version I review which is the Navigon Mobile Navigator Business European Edition (phew...) or in short MNBEE. This version is different to the one supplied in the bundles. Not just in branding but also in some functionalities. However the core of the product (routing engine) and the map data are the same. But this product isn't locked to a specific receiver for example.

As such the same hacks apply to switch off the irritating warning...Also you can skin the 'old' version as well if you want to change the user-interface.....

What is the hack to turn off the warning?

Navigon are. But its cheaper if you buy it as an upgrade (have you any old navigation software you could cross-upgrade from? They give a big discount).

I am currently awaiting Navigon 4. Been on order quite a few weeks - expected mid-July (when I'm in France!).

I am puzzled. DeJong and others have said TMC is available in the UK with NAvigon's MBNEE, but following the above link to the german web site gets you this:

"TMC-Empfang möglich in den Ländern: Deutschland, Österreich, Schweiz, Italien, Frankreich, Belgien, Niederlande, Spanien, Schweden, Dänemark"

ie "TMC is available in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Denmark".

Notice the glaring omission? I suppose it doesn't say you can't use it in UK. But are there different versions or something?

I have noticed that. Navigon's web site has exactly the same information.
I guess we have to wait for dejongj's review of MN4 to see if this is just mistake or they have not enabled TMC support for UK in this version.

Anyone enquired about that at the source?

Yet another German on-line shop (but with English version) asks €435 for MN4+BT+TMC. I have enquired about this product and they confirm that this is the full thing. Again price difference between this one and Navigon on-line shop (€579) is over €140 which is almost £100

The GPS Mouse is a Leadtek 9830. Any standard Leadtek PDA cable will work.

No, the version bundled with Medion devices is Mobile Navigator which is different to Mobile Navigator Business Edition. The interfaces are similar though the basic version lacks many of the features of the premium Business Edition.
