I use Tomtom navigation software in a PDA with PGPSW speed camera database updated weekly, AND I use an Origin b2 speed camera alerting device updated weekly. You may think that having two speed camera systems is ovedoing it, but that is what I do. I feel it is justified by the b2's vastly superior alerting functionality. Having the two systems gives me a good oportunity to compare the PGPSW and Origin databases, and there is no question that the PGPSW database is superior despite being cheaper (the Origin subscription costs £50pa).

I often drive into London on the M4 and the Origin database still thinks there are SPECS cameras at roadworks around junction 6. These roadworks were cleared away at least three weeks ago, and the PGPSW database responded very promptly. A new camera appeared at the top of the slip road at junction 2 of the M4 going towards london a few months ago and the Origin database took a good three weeks to add it.

I think the Origin b2, now obsolete, is a really excellent product and is superior to Origin's replacement; it just a shame that Origin can't improve the quality of their database.

Origin used to be very good when I owned a B2 4 years ago, camera updates would often surprise me at just how quick they were added/removed. It's a shame to learn they've got worse as I am currently in the market for a new SCD and had looked towards the Pogo Alert. The cost of the unit was a negative point though.

I'll possibly hold out and see if TomTom release sat nav onto the iPhone when v3.0 is released.

Out of interest (been along while since I used a b2), in what way are the alerts better? is it something we could improve or is this simply a limitation of how TT handle POI alerts?
