Dear PGPSW
Can you please advise your membership to NOT download the latest application 8.350 software as there is a major bug which reduces the spoken volume down by at least 50 %.
So at normal road noise level the device is difficult to hear when the unit is on 100% volume.
Why TomTom cannot get there software to work is beyond me, there is a perfectly good volume bar at the bottom of the touch screen to reduce the volume if required.
Many thanks
Clive Watson

I always follow the excellent advice offered by Mike Alder some time ago, and put any new application on SD card, leaving the old app on the device. That way I'm able to remove the card and revert to the old app if I have problems.

I've now downloaded the new app to internal memory, as I experienced none of the problems reported here - so far!

Sorry, DennisN, but the volume seems exactly as it was before. Could that be because I reverted to the official software and voices before downloading the last map update?

Hi Darren,

I've connected to TTHome and run 'update my device'. It has downloaded map share and GPS fix information but has not offered me the 8.350 update. Am I missing something?

This is not the first time that I appear to be 'last in the queue'. Sad

I have tried reconnecting and updating. No joy.

Any suggestions?

Sorry thats my mistake, I should have read the details rather make assumptions, I think the following is what you want:

Go-x20 Navcore 8,350

Go-x30 Navcore 8,350

Hope that helps - Mike

Can anyone tell me why my TT Home (on Mac) won't offer me the new v8.350 update? I connected today & was offered the usual Quickfix sat location but nothing else. I have a TT Go 720, thanx.

OK, I deleted the whole of my SD Card and restored a good working version of 8.302 to the Internal Memory of my 520.

Everything was fine. Connected to the pc and started HOME. I was immediately offered the 8.35 upgrade and so let it go ahead. On completion, the 520 was restarted and a QuickGPSFix file offered. Again, I allowed that to download and install.

Disconnected from the pc by using the icon in the bottom right of the HOME Screen and the 520 booted up on the Internal Memory without any issues at all. I got a GPS Fix in the house, where with the earlier attempt at upgrading had failed.

Kate and Simon worked fine and the route planner was back to the 8.302 speed.

Connected up to the pc again, started HOME and went to Operate My Go. Straight away, I was told an additional file was needed and so I requested it. During the download, my broadband stuttered, so the download was incomplete. Closed HOME, opened it again and went again to Operate My Go. File was offered again and this time it came down OK and installed. Operate My Go is now working fully.

I then moved all the contents of the Internal Memory to the blank SD Card and restored the old 725/710 version I had to the Internal Memory and now both versions work fine.

New full Windows backups have been taken of the device as it stands, so I'm happy.

On the short trip to work this morning, all I had to do was turn the volume of Kate's instructions DOWN to 30% and change the car icon to my own Astra one which was kindly provided for me here.

OK, I need to restore some more of the preferences, but that's no problem.

Conclusions and advice if you have issues - don't panic, clear the version you downloaded earlier and try again. It works for me.

Thanks to everyone here who has posted their experiences and I hope we will all soon be at a stable operating level ready for the Map Upgrades, which should not be too far away.

Ric

That is exactly what I did and as far as I can tell the upgrade is working well.

The only thing that I had to change was the closing down picture which had been changed by the upgrade to the standard tomtom one.

Makes you wonder if the number of people trying to get the download yesterday has had an effect of a file within it that has been corrected overnight.

It may just have been on one of the servers that one connects to out of the several that they have (I think)

8.350 still working OK after going out at lunch time. 30% volume is more than enough for me.
