Garmin Oregon for Marine Navigation

I have an Oregon that I use for trail navigation (and Geocaching), and I want to use it as a back up unit for sailing.

Does anyone do this already, and can anyone recommend a set of folios that are good and reasonably priced? I'd be especially interested in anything based on the Admiralty ARCS charts as that's what I'm used to.

I've done it with my Colorado C300 - so there shouldn't be a problem. A friend of mine has an Oregon and is about to do the same. However you may find the cost of the charts somewhat eye-watering when compared to other mapping! You need to buy the GARMIN Bluechart pack for the area you want to sail in (eg Atlantic for most of Europe) then you unlock specific areas - this is where the cost comes in. With the unlocked maps you can get to enough detail for rough planning - but close in-shore detail isn't available until you unlock the specific chart when you will get all the detail you need. The device is a bit small to rely on for navigation (i.e. it's easy to miss small details like a rock!) but as you imply - these devices are an aid to navigation and you should always have your 'paper' charts with you.
