I've purchased PowerLoc Destinator 3 and Holux bluetooth recevier GR-230 to use on my Toshiba e750 through Ambicom bluethooth CF card BT2000-CF.
GPS Status keeps displaying the message "Com port is busy" and obviously Destinator cannot get hold of the Com port to communicate the the GR-230. I've download Destinator's latest version which is 3.0.54 without getting any results Destinator product support staff kept telling me that they had forwarded the problem to Europe software team to resolve.

The reason I narrowed it down to Destinator 3 is because other navigation softwares (Mapopolis and TomTom 2) work just fine with my setup.

May I ask if anyone have encountered the same bug and how to get it fixed.

Can you confirm that you have TomTom GPS version 2.07 or lower?

I don't think so. there is no version 2.54 . Anyhow, I was asking about the version of the GPS driver, not the Navigator version

Zacharee,

I've got the same problem and also scratching my head on how to solve it. Here's my setup:

1) Toshiba e570 PocketPC v3.0.11171 (build 11178), which I'm told is the same as PocketPC 2002, with 128MB CF card, and Toshiba Bluetooth SD 2 card installed.
2) The bluetooth card is an SDIO Card Type B installed on COM 6, and I've downloaded the latest Toshiba bluetooth drivers (version 4.0)
3) Fortuna Clip-on GPS (Serial port profile, NMEA 0183 Output protocol)
4) Destinator 3 version 3.0.54 North America version (purchased from a US website (BuyGPSnow)), though I am based in the UK.

Symptoms:

The above setup works very successfully with Mapopolis, but Destinator fails to find the GPS. I have tried using both SiRF and NMEA protocols, but as it scans the various COM ports, when it gets to COM 6 the bluetooth light activates on the Fortuna GPS, but I get the message "GPS isn't found". I've also tried manually setting the GPS, and get the same message for all bauds except 14400, which comes up with "COM Port Busy". (strange, as the Fortuna is supposed to use 38400 baud, though it might be switchable).

Ideas Attempted:

1) I suspected that the COM port may have been held by the Mapopolis software, so I wiped the PDA with a hard reset and reinstalled only the Toshiba bluetooth drivers and Destinator 3. No other software has been installed. The same symptoms arise.

2) The Destinator FAQ support page says that the problem could also be caused by generic bluetooth configuration software, which they suggest uninstalling (but if you do this, then the bluetooth card won't be recognised by the PDA!). Instead, I have tried forcing the configuration software to 'give up' its hold by simply removing the SD card and doing a soft-reset. Then starting up Destinator and re-inserting the card whilst at the Destinator GPS Settings screen. This has had partial success, as on a few occasions it showed a blue message "GPS found". Unfortunately, it seemed to lose this connection on returning to the navigator screens.

Conclusion:

Our common link is the use of bluetooth cards. So I can only conclude that the way Destinator has been written, it simply isn't compatible with Toshiba PDAs using bluetooth CF/SD cards. It's a shame they haven't used the same connection method as Mapopolis, which works a treat.

After 3 days of waiting, I've had no email reply from Destinator support, so will give them a call today and report back any findings. I wonder what the refund policy is...

If any one has any ideas on how to solve this problem, then please let us know. Thanks!!
