I subscribed to the map update service which promised me a new map every quarter - a quarte has now passed since the last map release so it is now overdue. Time to ask for a refund??????

I think you'll find it promised four new maps a year, which isn't the same as a new map every quarter.

True, but they price it by the quarter which implies that the maps are released quarterly.

No doubt they will be out soon as the new Navcores have been released and they normally go hand in hand.

Teleatlas have made a number of press releases about releasing that version of the maps and google maps appear to be using it. So where is it Tomtom?

Should be soon....

I posted a question on the TT Support site asking when I was going to be able to download the Quarterly Map Update that I had paid for in September, over a quarter of a year ago. For those who want a laugh this evening, here is their response:

Dear Mr L,

Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support

Currently as of yet we do not have a date when the product you are asking about will be available.

For further information of when our products are available, please ensure
that you have registered to receive the Newsletter via your account. Please click on Support - My Profile and tick the options to receive the Newsletter.
You will be notified by email of when our latest products, maps and services will be launched.

By some chance of fate, the next item in my mail inbox is a request for me to fill in a Survey about TomTom's Customer Services Department.

I can't wait to fill it in!

And in my inbox today was a customer feedback questionnaire.

Did I have fun filling that in - I doubt they will read it though as they don't read support calls!

I am confused about you saying that you did not get the quarterly update you paid for in September?

The first quarterly update after then was released on or around Nov 14th and from your signature it appears you received that update as you have 8.15 maps.

Another quarter has almost passed and there should be more maps very shortly.

The next map release should be Tele Atlas MultiNet 2008.10, right? Does their naming convention (.10=the tenth month of '08) mean that the data was released to their customers in October, or that it was cut from their database in October, then processed and shipped to customers sometime in November?

If TT didn't see the map until (potentially) late November/early December, then I might be able to understand it taking until mid-February to release the maps (not really, but for the sake of argument I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that there was extra testing to be done, etc). If, however, they've had it since October, this seems a bit ridiculous. The basic map structure shouldn't have changed that much from the previous release, should it? I thought most of the new features were already in v8.15, it was simply going to be an increase in coverage with the new maps?

TomTom released maps in mid November, the next maps on a quarterly basis should be approx mid Feb. If they are a few days later what does it matter, there will only be a few minor changes and additions?
