Has anyone got a x40 unit working with the Mini-USB RDS/TMC reciever (4v00.014)? is there a newer version for the x40 series ?

HD traffic is working fine but I wanted the RDS TMC for a trip to France although to start with I'm just trying to get it to work in the UK.

It is all connected correctly, the dongle is connected to the active mount and the charger lead is connected to the dongle.

The key thing is that there is nothing indicated on the 740 to suggest that the RDS TMC dongle is even connected, let alone receiving traffic information.

What should I expect to see on the 740 to tell me that (a) the dongle is connected and (b) the station it is tuned to and (C) that is recieving traffic info ?

The Mini USB receiver will work fine with the x40 but the device will only switch to using it if/ when the HD Traffic or the GPRS signal is relies upon is unavailable (such as when roaming overseas).
The device will flash up a message that it is connecting to the RDS-TMC receiver and you will see the tuning arrow followed by the green ball top right when RDS-TMC is in use.
Short of driving to a location devoid of Vodafone signal coverage or pulling out the sim card (not advisable) there is no way of testing this on your device (but it does work as I have just tried the combination) - Mike
