I thought I'd successfully updated to Map v.815.2003 using LMG and confirmed that the new version (as downloaded) was present on 'Home' by showing its contents, yet later when checking map version on unit by tapping GPS signal on screen, discovered infact former v.715.1703 was still present. By exiting and re-entering 'Home' & selecting 'Internal memory' - this showed contents has map v.715 installed. Repeat same process, but selecting SD (external) memory, contents now shows new (815) map installed. So, the obvious question is, which one is correct? How do I get the unit to read new map, or do they actually co-exist and work alongside each other, ie. both are present?
In order to achieve a full update it was necessary to get larger SD card. Since replacing SD card now each time I log into 'Home' it asks me to select either Internal or External memory, but producing different results in Show Contents section, why is that? What should it be and can anyone say why the unit doesn't report the updated version present when clearly it exists on the SD card. _________________ Go 720T

Try this directly on the device NOT via TomTom Home on the PC
With the card installed to the device try going to Change Preferences/ Manage Maps/ Switch Map and select the new map from the presented list - once selected as the active map tap the sat strength meter followed by the version box to check the map details - then copy your POI files to the new map set all your POI warnings etc - Mike |

Thanks again Mike for your very prompt reply - I followed your advice and sure enough, unit now shows v.815 present. Sorted, so does it follow that effectively, it is possible to have different sets of POI's stored on each map, (Old & New) dependent upon where they're stored, assuming the difference between updates isn't material to their location? _________________ Go 720T

POI files MUST be installed to the map folder with which you want to use them with, I would transfer/ copy all your POI files (the file names end with .bmp and .ov2) to the new map then configure your warnings and whether you want the POI files visible on the map.
You can store different POI files in each map folder if you really need to, but to use them you will have to switch map to the one containing the POI files you want to use, in practice this isn't easy as you can never view the POI files in the other map folder that is not active on the device - Mike |
