I have just downloaded the latest Map updates on to ny 730T, and all went well except that I have lost my favourites.
I have several windows backups, but can someone please tell me where the favourites are located, and is it just a matter of copying and pasting?

Copy the 'MapSettings' file over to the new map folder.

Hi trevor.dowle
Do as 46jimbo suggests. I know that it works because I had the same problem last week as you have now.

Hi, Thanks for that.
I'm on nights at the moment so I'll probably need to do that on Sunday.
I guess I'll find that in the map folder?

That is correct. It resides in the SPECIFIC map folder where you had saved the favourites. In other words, if you have two maps installed, make sure you copy the file from the correct one.

Hi Mario
Using Windows explorer click on your device to view all the directories and files installed on your Tomtom. You will see the Folder named Western and Central Europe towards the bottom of the window. Click on the Folder and you will see that it is crammed with files. One of the files is named ‘MapSettings.cfg’ That is the file that contains your Favourites.
In fact, if you double click on the file you will be able to recognise some of your favourites amongst the Gobbledegook.

Hi Mario
Hi mario212
No, its not a folder. However, just click on it once to highlight it and click copy. Then go to your device / Western and Central Europe/MapSettings.cfg, click once to highlight and paste. It will ask you if you wish to replace the existing file, click yes.
And thats it, give it a try.

Hi Calomax
Yes, pasting the coppied cfg. file straight into the Map Folder on the device or pasting it straight into the cfg. file on the device both work.

That "does not compute".... Very Happy

You are copying the .cfg file and pasting it into the map folder (overwriting the previous file of the same name).

You cannot paste a file "into" another file.

Hi Andy_P
But, I have done it many times. Just to be sure I have just done it again.
Trevor.

Hi Andy_P
I carry out a full Windows Backup of my 720 before installing a new map etc and again afterwards. Then every few weeks or whenever I copy the MapSettings cfg. file which I save. That file can be very handy if one has deleted a favourite or some other info.
