That is next on the list of things to do, what has impressed me in over 1000 miles of driving is only once did the routing engine mess up offering a slight diversion that was easily avoided (ignored), today the software has actually impressed me, the alternate route funtion working very well indeed.
What are you looking for custom voice for the navigation or spoken alerts for POI files? - Mike

Hi Graham,

I have had custom warnings running on McGuider since the beginning. They are very clear, concise and female....

If you need help sorting this, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Hopefully Mike will have it put together soon. I sent him the files for my warnings.

As a first pass you can find the guide Here - I still need to work out the correct settings for the audio files though, without heavy compression the software refuses to pick up the wav files, when I have this sorted out I will add to the guide, but at least users can now have speed cameras on the software.
Many Thanks for your assistance on this one Dennis, without this I would have spent considerably more time sorting it out! - Thanks - Mike

Do you have any recommended locations to purchase this from please? I notice on TeleAtlas website it is £60, so finding somewhere selling it for £40 would be a bonus.

Looks like I could be another TT user lost because they are refusing to release TT7 and the associated maps for anything else but the Diamond.

F.A.O. MikeAlder,
Mike, you have made various comments on Mcguider, which have wetted my appetite, being a fan of Tomtom (tomtom navigator6) due to its set and go aspect but being dissalusioned by being left behind, will you be doing a review, I am currently playing with at Igo8 but seems hard work and screen cluttered after ttn6, plus I dont want to change cards to use i also have other things on my 8gb card, i understand Mcguide cover this by allowing a one off copy, would you give your opinion for tomtom user(it looks very similar to tomtom screen layout), i aprecaite Mcguider as conversion problems but it would appear that once you set the route it may be ok or you can perhaps pressure Mcguider to change.

I have been using this software for a few thousand miles by now, I am quite impressed by it - speed cameras work, the transition from the TomTom PNA and PDA devices I use is very easy. The menu structure is very similar and shares the same intuitive feel as the one with the "red hands" - it is easy to use, and their support quick at getting back to my query about moving the maps/ application to an 8GB card (which you can do once).
I don't quite understand the conversion problems you mention, could you expand on that? - Mike

Converting the POI files is very simple, download your files as ov2 format, extract them to a single folder on your PC, point the converter application at the folder and press go, it will convert either single files or a batch of POI files in a single pass, dead easy and very quick (converting the full speed zoned file set takes less than the blink of an eye).

Voices are as supplied at the moment, the UK voice is male only, I am still intending to take the voice file appart to see if we can make our own, it won't happen today as I am at MOSI in Manchester.
Spoken alerts for speed cameras are also possible, they work but you have to keep the file size down or the software refuses to use the wav file, there is a limit to how many spoken alerts you can have, I use the spoken part to identify the type of camera, for the speed I look at the icon on the screen, not ideal but it is still early days with this application - Mike
