You really should reply to the original ngoing topic thread rather than starting an entire new thread or we'll never get to the bottom of this. Howvere noe we're here let's stick to this one and not create any more!

No you don't need any more software, I'm no expert on iR Sync but check the following:

In ActiveSync, GoTo File | Connection Settings

Ensure 'Allow serial cable or infrared connection to this COM port:' is ticked and change the COM Port configured in this dialogue to Infrared Port (IR) then try the Sync via IR as before from the ActiveSync client on the PDA.

make sure that on your pda under start>>settings>>connections>>beam

that you have the receive incoming beams ticked then tap OK.

Hope that MAY help.

Why no USB? The USB cards are so cheap now or even a USB hub. Can pick them up from 7dayshop.com and scan.co.uk or dabs.com for around £10 for the card if your puter has a spare PCI slot.

Best of luck

Allan

What version of Windows are you using? If it's Windows 2000, you have to upgrade to Service Pack 4 before ActiveSync over IR will work (there's no IrCOMM support in earlier Service Packs).
