Hi rockpebblar

Yes it is a bare bones version of Windows CE v5.0 Confused

On the main menu click on System - Sys Info. - USB and change it to MS Activesync.

Google ActiveSync and download it from Microsoft's site.

....and away you go Very Happy

But what you have done is illegal, you cannot simply "borrow" maps they have to be purchased and can only be used on a single device, having them activated on more than a single device is against the rules - Mike

Help I could do with some advice please? I bought a Trumpion from ebay just after christmas for my other half. We are driving through France in may and I thought it would be a good idea. It worked perfectly until my OH decided that he was going to update the maps using the free updates on Route 66. He downloaded the maps onto his computer, plugged in the sat nav using the USB cable, transfered the navigator software off the SD card into another folder and tried to put onto the SD card the updated Navigator software. This didn't work as it said it didn't recognise the software and so he tried to replace the original folder back onto the SD card.

When he went back onto the SD card directory there was no navigation software to be seen and so he got the Route 66 disc with the software on it and put this back onto the SD card. Now when the sat nav is turned on the main screen comes on but when the navigation button is pressed nothing happens and the other functions within the sat nav don't work.

Can anyone help - is it a case that he has corrupted something somewhere and is is possible to reload the SD card correctly with the software from the disc.

I've tried emailing and messaging the seller from ebay and phoning him, but the telephone number he had ie Trumpion I spoke to a girl who said that he had now left the building and left no forwarding address or number and so I am stuffed - can anyone help????

Dear kazie,

As long as you have to original DVD as supplied with your Trumpion, you can easily put things right Very Happy

1) Format your SD card (FAT file system).

2) Unzip the file 071024-S2-EUROPE-PND-GenericARM.MC.zip to a convenient location.

3) Copy the unzipped files and folders to the root of your SD card.
The shell.ini file, speech & maps folder etc. should be in the root of the SD card.

4) Pop the SD card back in you Trumpion and off you go again.

Good luck Very Happy

P.S. You can't upgrade the software or maps on this device Sad

Re-installation instructions as supplied by Trumpion:

3) Unzip 071024-S2-EUROPE-PND-GenericARM.MC.zip to any folder, say folder IMAGES.

4) Master SD Card creation:

Hi again DeLorean,
I'm just back from our high speed touring adventure (3800 miles, 17 countries, 20 border crossings, stopped once in Romania by a policeman wanting a lift home after his shift, once in Slovakia for not having a motorway sticker (fined 3000 Korunas), and then by German Customs after leaving Poland (car totally emptied and searched - nothing found!) All this in 14 days.... Had a beer in every country but France and Slovakia (just passing through) and was well served every night - brilliant!

As for the Trumpion, it was 1st Class. Showed us the road most of the time, and where it didn't, it didn't matter. Good coverage in every town of any size and even took us to Dracula's Castle in the village of Bran in Romania without a flicker.

The countries we travelled through are: Scotland, England, Holland, Belgium, Luxemburg, France, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Poland, Germany, Holland, England, Scotland.

The Trumpion's got to be the best value item I've bought for a long time....

Hi zundapp,

I'm sorry it’s taken me so….. long to reply Sad

It sounds like you had a great time with your Euro trip Very Happy
Good to hear you had the obligatory run in with the authorities on the continent.
Planning on doing anything similar again Question

Just before my trip to Slovakia (in June) I was given a TT910 by a friend who didn't want it anymore (god knows why).

So I upgraded the maps, plonked on a TCM receiver and the European speed camera POI and off we went.

All the way to Slovakia avoiding all the toll roads, traffic delays etc.
The whole journey was a breeze Very Happy
Well apart from Poland who’s roads had a good try at killing my suspension Exclamation

Left my home in Hampshire at 7pm and arrived in Zilina, Slovakia by 5:30pm the next day (had a couple of hours sleep in the Netherlands).

As the Trumpion runs the WinCE 5.0 OS I was able to load it with a handy little utility which turned it into a digital speedometer (for displaying KM's).

It worked a treat Very Happy

I still had the original Route66 software loaded, just in case the TomTom should fail or get nicked.

I still have the Trumpion and love it Exclamation

The battery packed up about month ago, so I fitted a suitable replacement (higher capacity) and I now get up to 5 hours or more runtime from it.
I’ve also plonked in a 4GB SD card, so I could load it full of stuff.
The Route66 maps were getting really out of date, so I bought TomTom Navigator and loaded lots of other handy software for WinCE GPS devices.
It now lives in my backpack all of the time for when I’m out and about (beats using paper maps).

I did want to use it for Snowboarding, but found it a little too bulky and fragile, so I bought a HGE-100 GPS for my K800i installed TrekBuddy and loaded it with maps of the mountains where I snowboard Very Happy

We’re flying back to Slovakia in February for 10 days of Snowboarding, then driving back again in late April early May time.
Our young German Sheppard will be coming with us when we drive as she has a pets passport.

18+ hours stuck in a car with a big smelly dog, GREAT Exclamation

Here are a few short video clips we made whilst travelling down highway 18 in Poland (section of the international European route E36).

In the first clip, the Trumpion is on the left being used as a speedo Very Happy

The beeps you can hear in the backgound are from the TomTom 910 which was on my right.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=xAb43BuHa6k

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=TdhWONk8a28

It doesn't look too bumpy in the videos, but take my word for it; it was BUMPY!!!

I have low profile wheels on my car which made it even worse (I buckled one rim).
