Then try a visit to www.tomtomsatnav.info and download the silent voice, install it and give it a try, you will still get the prompt to avoid the speed ticket, if you have the data.chk file set correctly, but no nagging from the navigation voice (might need to gag the left seater though - as they can't be shut-up at the press of a button Wink ) - Mike

Hi all,
I have the 910 but I am not found of manually touch typing all the warnings for the speed cams. Any quicker way of doing this pls?
I have tried putting the .ogg files for each of the speed cams but for sum reason it only works on Gatso's and the rest speed cams are alerted by 'polite3' as set before.
Any help would be much appeciated?

Have you still got the TT cameras installed?

Cheers to all for the help. Turned out it was down to the original TOMTOM speed cams. Got rid of them and now is working brilliantly.
Cheers!

I have my own text/speach speed camera warnings loaded in my Tom Tom 910, it all works OK, but I also get the TT bell sounding as well as the speach warning!
Any idea why? I don't have the TT speed cameras loaded.

You probably have an additional POI file in the map folder, the device will be picking up the camera warnings within both files and sounding two warnings.
Have a close look at your map folder at the files with the ov2 file extension, how many start with pocketgps_uk........

If I download these POI files for the cameras and then manually set my own 'text to speech' alert for each file, what happens the following month when I download the updated camera files? Does the TT remember the personalised text when I overwrite the camera files or do I have to then type them all up again? If the latter then this is a right pain in the ar*e especially if using the speed zoned files.

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere ( I have tried searching ).

For a Speed Camera update all you do is download, Unzip, and copy the ov2 files to the map folder, this will overwrite the old files and doesn't require any settings to be altered - Mike

So ALL the personalised settings / voice commands etc will stay the same even though the file has been overwritten?

Sounds good!!

As a precaution you can also take a copy of the MapSettings.cfg file from the Western Europe Map folder and keep it safe on the PC, this is the file that all your time and effort setting up the camera warnings are stored in - you shouldn't need it, but if the machine ever needs the backup installing you will need this file in addition to the backup - Mike

First thanks to the people who have provided information on the above subject. With this information I have successfully installed the cameras on my new TomTom720, the tip about punctuation to slow the speech down is excellent.

What I would like to know from you experts out there.....is it possible to have that warning bell in front of the speech, that is to say the warning would be:- the Bell followed by the speed camera spoken warning?

Any help or advice would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Eric

Not directly via the menus, but that is exactly what I have on my 720, using the UK "Simon" text to speech voice.

You have to record the computer voice warnings to PC and edit your own bell/chime etc on the front, then load them as audio files.
It just so happens that the three versions I made have just been added to the Voice Warnings Collection page (see third one down)
They also include warnings for the "pMobile" files that are missing on many of the other sets.
