Unable to register charts

Having bought a lap-top, I thought it would be great to use in the car with memory-map and my etrex. Unfortunately by attempting to import the charts from my desktop pc across my home network, I have now got into a position where I seem to be 'locked-out' of my OS charts. I have uninstalled memory-map from both machines, and reinstalled from the CD to just the desktop, but get 'No map's found'. I can only assume this is to do with OS map licensing? Can I reset my system? Thanks
