I bought TT6 on an SD card earlier this year and installed it on my iPAQ 2210, not one of the recommended PDA's but it worked fine. While we were on holiday this Summer the SD got removed and when pushed back in TT tried to re-install itself. After that it still worked fine except that the spoken directions often, but not consistently, lost the first letter - "Turn" would sound like "urn". Not wanting to do anything while we were away I left all alone. Since then I've restored the system from my backup, done a hard-reset and restored my backup, done a hard-reset and only installed TT from different SD and CF card copies and finally the original SD card, but always I get this odd voice problem. I would just put it down to my old iPAQ being incompatible with TT6, but it DID work........
Any idea's anyone.
Incidently, I have tried installing the latest updates to the software. |

After some experimenting the voice perform much better when the two "voice" files are moved from the CF/SD card to the iPaq - there are "voice" folders at "\iPAQ File Store\Voices" and "\Program Files\Navigator\voices" and both seem to be found by Tomtom. There is still a bit of corruption, but only occasionally, as opposed to most of the time. |

This is probably why the iPaq 2210 isn't on the supported list - it's probably not quite up to the task. Also - how many active POI categories do you have? Reducing these will significantly improve performance. _________________ Phil |

I've finally solved the problem. I eventually found, in another thread, that if you DON'T link the volume to speed by unchecking the box in the "Volume Preferences", Jane looses her stutter!
So, to recap, iPaq 2210, GPSGate, Holux GPS Slim 236 and Tomtom 6 all work perfectly.
