LO All Smile

Ok I want to do what most others seem to want to do, and make sure all the wiring for the Sat Nav is all neat n tidy Smile

i have made a really good job of the nice new Blue Leadtek GPS but the power lead for pluging the leadtick AND my iPaq 2210 in is where the problem lies

Where abouts is the reducing stuff to make it all 5v?? i assume thats what it does I know the supply to the iPAQ and the Leadtek isnt suppose to be 12v, I am assuming its in the actual Power Plug that goes into the ciggy lighter, but I cannot seem to open it and i dont want to butcher it!

Any ideas guys? My Vauxhall dash is in a million pieces, and times a pressing on

I would assume the cigarette lighter adapter (if official) will drop the voltage. Why not stick a multimeter on the adapter when plugged in and get a definitive answer. My tomtom plug is 5v and supplies both the receiver and the ipaq 1940

Yup its the official TomTom one in the red n white box

I sorted it too now, should have research on here a little more Smile

The plug i believe holds all the gubbins, and so to cut that off and then wire straight into the 12v supply would have killed it all I would think Laughing Out Loud

I have instead spent 3 quid at the local car accessory place and brought a 12v Ciggy lighter extention and a blade inline fuse holder.

I will simply plug the official end into that, after its all wired in, and tape it so it doesnt move, then fix it to the wiring loom with a couple of idiot strips so it doesnt come off under the dash

I will ensure its easily accessable tho incase a fuse goes, but in theory it should last for quite a while ;)
