I'd like to leave my new GPSlim 236 permanently in my car, plugged it to the cigarette socket in the boot, but the power to this is always on. Is there any reason why this might be a problem? I can't think of one, and I'd have an immediate fix all the time!

Not really, but I would disconnect it if going abroad, or leaving the car without running it for a couple of weeks otherwise the battery on your car might not work as expected, the GPS will only draw a small amount of power but over a week or more this can add up, if the car is in daily use I don't see this as a problem - Mike

I've had this set=up since I had my Holux receiver and have had no issues, either on the performance of the GPS Fix, or the condition of teh car battery.

I do use my car pretty much on a daily basis though so always re-charging the car battery.
