If you are thinking of buying one of these keep the packaging or at least the barcode on the box. They have a cheap map update available at the moment but need not only the original invoice but also the barcode and how many of us keep the original packaging? Which is the only place where the barcode appears evidently.
Used in Portugal the 980T is a disappointment. It has taken me (recommended route) through a road so narrow I had to fold the mirrors in. Also it does not yet know of motorways open for a year. I had hoped Michelin would be a lot better than this. |

maybe useful to note that the website states only 83% coverage for Portugal, so I suppose it's very possible for roads to be missing. Also would depend on what version of map data you have.
Suspect you have the data shipped map data and not the update.
You could try contacting them about your update, but could be hard as they would have no way of tying your update to the device. It seems that they use the code to generate access to a special section of the website. |

But don't forget that ALL TeleAtlas based GPS units will only have the same coverage.
Also which map version does MicDavid have? don't forget for the cost of postage you get a map update. Go on the Teleatlas website and you can compare the map version details. |

Just checked and the latest Map update now shows 99.9% coverage for Portugal. That should be a big improvement. |
