I am trying to get these two to work together with Tom Tom Navigator.
I can get the two to connect via bluetooth and the gps unit switches on, and I assume it gets a signal because of the red light on solid. The connection stays but I get no info showing on the gps part of Tom Tom.

This is driving me potty and as I bought this in the states, it'll be a pain to get it sent back etc.

Any help will stop me banging my head against the wall.

Thanks,
John

Hi John,

I shall run this by my colleague who tested the BT Slipper but in the meantime you might want to read our review here as it contains some important information about which particlular models and versions actually work with the BT slipper. Can you check that your is not an early version of the 303 as explained in the review?

The unit I bought, the slipper and gps came together in the same box.
(Bluetooth slipper with GPS receiver)

I can get the unit to start and stay on, the problem is that I dont get any data sent back to the pda. I assume it is getting a fix because the red light is constant, but as I say above I do not get any data sent back.

So ant help would be very mych appreciated.

And you have confirmed that your receiver has a transparent barcode lable on the rear of the antenna portion?

Yes, the unit came together as a complete (says on the box). And does have a transparent bar code. One thing I do notice on the PDA in bluetooth devices, there is a question mark over the device. Do you know what this means?

Cheers,

John

That would suggest that you have not paired the two devices. If you tapn and hold on the Icon do you get the option to connect? if you do, select connect and let me know what happens next.

with the other units that dont work with the slipper, how do you know, does it just not work, i.e the light doesn't come on etc.

Also, does it start sending to the pc/pda straight away or when it gets a fix?

I bought this from www.buygpsnow.com and would take a while to ship it back to the states.

John.

been playing with this thing, still dont work.

I have noticed one thing, when I get the bluetooth to start with Tom Tom Nav, it uses bluetooth browser. When it does this, the connection is an activesync serial port. When I go into BT manager and tap and connect, it creates an SPP slave connection and get signal strength and the device is connected but still dont get any data back to the pda.

Im not ready to give up yet.........

John, not forgotten about you Smile, I've asked my colleague who has a BT Slipper combo to see if he can come up with anything but he's in the middle of a move at the mo so it may be a day or so before he jumps in Thumbs Up

John, which 303 card do you have, is it the 303MMF (red button), or the 303E (blue button) ?

You are connecting properly through Bluetooth, take a look at the following article regarding how to diagnose a GPS and this will give you better information.
http://pocketgpsworld.com/winfastnavigatorppc.php

One thing to make sure of is that the Bluetooth slipper is fully charged. You can find if it's not fully charged, the Bluetooth connection will still work, but there is not enough power to power the 303 card, even though the light comes on. I found this in my tests that the 303E card couldn't be used as long as a 303MMF card in the Bluetooth slipper. The 303MMF card the slipper would just die completely when it ran low on juice, but the slipper continued to supply a Bluetooth connection under the 303E card when battery was low, just no data would come through, or when testing with WinFast Navigator you would see a screen full of data on the Development screen and then nothing after this.

Also another thing to bear in mind is that although you do have the transparent barcode, some retailers have still found problems where some cards with these stickers on don't work in the slipper for some unexplicable reason, so if it still fails at that point, you might want to talk to BuyGPSNow.com.

Dave,

I assume it is a 303mmf as the box it came in came with both the slipper and the gps. It has a RED button (on the hinge I assume). Ironically, on the box the button is blue!!

I have noticed that when I use Tom Tom GPS, it creates a activesync serial port and in status says not connected. If I go to bT manager and connect to HAICOM BT GPS SPP slave and look in status, it says connected.

Using Winfast, I set the port to com6 (outbound) and the slipper and gps fire up (with the power lead in) then thats it, no data being sent.

I do have screen shots, but not sure how to enter if I can.

Looks like I need to call buygpsnow.

Ta.

John

Hi

sorry to but in

Have you tried setting connection port to com8?

This is what I'm using with the slipper and a 303e with an ipaq 2210 with no problems. Com8 is the only one the haicom is using on my setup

HTH

Ian

If i set com 8 nothing happens. What is your incoming and outgoing ports.
My outgoing is 6 and my incoming is 8.

I have tried this on a desktop with a BT dongle and it doesn't pick anything up there either!! Sad

Me thinks it dont work.
