With Gatso and Trevelo speed cameras the markings on the road show where the camera picks you up. My question is how far away from the specs cameras are you picked up as this is relevent to the warning on the Tomtom.
I know they work on the average speed between two cameras but if you passed a 50mph camera at 70mph but then slowed down so that your average speed between the two was 50mph would you still be issued with a speeding ticket. Question

No.
Because an individual SPECS camera cannot detect your speed at all.
It only registers your numberplate and the time it saw you.
That's why they need to work in pairs.

I've thought about this and think it would be very difficult to know your average speed. Obviously if you passed the first one at 70 and slowed down to 50, the average would be over 50. So maybe slowing down to 40 may do the trick but that depends on how far you travelling past the Specs at 70.

It's been said that if you pass a Specs in lane 1 and change to lane 2 or 3, or lane 2 to 1 or 3 etc, your average speed cannot be worked out, as lane one cameras are linked to lane 1 cameras only. There was a post and a link somewhere here but I can't find it at present. Hopefully someone will beat me to it and post.
