We have removed the Garmin link on the download page whilst we investigate the issues Garmin users have been reporting.

I don't know if it's related but I downloaded a selection of the new poi's to my i3 but got a message with most of the categories saying something along the lines that data had been added but that a record was corrupt & that data after that record would not be added [I can't remember the actual wording of the error].
I have checked & some poi's have been added but not all.
I am using the beta of POI Loader, I don't know if this has any bearing on matters.

Is anyone having problems diwnloading shopping , I have tried to download it , I want it has combine subcategories into category file and it just wont work, same with food and drink rolled back to ie6 tried firefox , just get page cannot be displayed??? any one got any ideas???? even if I click the show link its the same. Is there a way you can downlaod the seprate per subcategory and make them into one file,

If I download all the shopping and food and drink as seprate files there wont be enough pois left on my tom tom? im stuck now, wifi spots etc are fine. By the way im only downloading say shopping on its own and then food and drink as its says to but still wont work.

So as I said earlier if I download seperate files per subcat, is there a way to make these a combine sub cat into category file ??? or anyone got any other ideas tried it on 3 pcs all the same.

Just tried downloading shopping as combined file for first download using ie6, got unexpected end of file, then only showed shopping.bmp, then when tried to show file, said unknown format or damaged.

There are too many POIs in the shopping category. expand it and deselect subcategories that you don't need.

You can always use DumpOV2/MakeOV2 to cook your own files.

Just a thought re the Garmin problem.

The camera files do not seem to have caused a problem.
They consist of three columns Logitude/Latitude/Data. All the files are consistent in their format.

The other POIs consist of mainly 4 columns Logitude/Latitude/Name/Data whilst the fourth column is not always used, where it is the data can be quite lengthy.

When it does load in the fourth column is not recognised anyway on my Nuvi 660 but it may be that the other Garmins are trying to read all the data and locking.

I may be totally wrong (I have been in the past!!!!)

As I say just a thought

We're actually thinking along the same lines. Just waiting for our Garmin experts to come back online to confirm and re-test.

looks like it. We have changed our header format, and it should now play again with the new POILoader. Anyone brave enough to try?

For info only as I have yet to use the new format on my Nuvi:

I had a look at some of these MS Excel and noted the slight header change.

However when I looked at the files in POI Edit it wil only recognise the columns named Longitude (including ;Longitude) Latitude and Details. It ignores Name totally.

Ok had a play with the old i3 Street Pilot and the new POI's here is what happens:

Hardware i3 Street Pilot
Software 3,20
Audio Version 2,0
v8 Mapping

POI Loader 2,4,0,0 (latest beta version that allows wav file integration on Nuvi devices), POI's loaded via card reader/ adapter.
First of all removed all POI using POI Loader.

Downloaded all POI's in a single download using FireFox consolidated in to single categories with the "Show Link" selected. This works fine on the i3 with the POI's loaded and working with no problems.

Next I tried something stupid, but if its available as a selection others will try this:

Use the separate sub files download method which results in 233 different POI categories. The POI load to the i3 fine, but when you select WhereTo?/ Food, Hotels & More/ Custom POI's the device locks up, after 5 minutes of waiting I then tried to switch the unit off, nothing happens.

To recover from this you can either drop out the batteries or press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds, when the unit is next powered up it works, simply remove the POI files to get back to a working device, there is probably a limit to the number of POI categories the i3 can handle, lets face it it does pretty well for a device costing £100 - Mike
