Speed Camera Detectors Sites & Forums

With all due respect to Pocket GPS World, what's happened to all the specialist Camera Detector sites and forums?? The forums seem to have suddenly disappeared or have had no posts since way back in 2003 or even earlier, and the sites are similarly totally out of date.
I don't mean to be disrespectful to Pocket GPS, but you have other things to bother about beside speed cameras!!

We did have a separate forum dedicated to each hardware based unit about 6 months ago but when we moved forum software back in August we merged them all into one because there were only one or two posts per forum and it wasn't worth keeping them all open for the amount of posts we were receiving.

The hardware based GPS Speed Camera Detectors forum is located here and has posts to over 8 threads since January 1st 2004.

The Pocket GPS Safety Camera forum is located here and has over 12 threads posted to since January 1st 2004.

The Safety Camera database is available at http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/uksafetycameras.php

The description of the new forum (as seen in the main forum list) says "For discussing all aspects of hardware based Speed Camera Detector's including Road Angel, Morpheous, Cyclops, Geodesy, TrackM8 and Pocket PC third party based systems like Travel-i and TrafCam".

Dave,

Thanks for your reply. I wasn't complaining about Pocket GPS World, as I've found the site and forum very helpful, however, there are several other sites supposedly still in operation, but I get a strong impression that they're months and even years out of date.
There's one called the Speed Camera Bible, or words to that effect, which still has on it's home page a competition which had a closing date of June 2003!!!!!
The UK Speed Trap site has apparently closed it's forum, which I found very good, without any notice whatsoever, so where has everybody gone???
I get the impression that there might be some idiots around causing hassle on some forums, but surely moderators/managers could take a more commonsense and imaginative approach rather than simply closing the whole thing down.

Hi David,

The UK Speed Trap website forum has been closed for some time now and I recently sent an email to the webmaster (Steve Warren) asking why it had been shut down.

He replied saying that the forum would be shut down for a short while until he sorted out a new one. This email was sent to me on 8th January, 2004.

As to when this new forum will actually open, your guess is as good as mine! Wink

If Steve is reading this site and comes across this post, perhaps he could post an update, as I'm sure there are many people wondering the same thing.

Thanks for your info. Yes, I found the UK Speed Traps forum interesting with a good range of subjects, and a good nucleus of people who obviously kept a regular check on it.
