Hi, new here!

Quick question, I have recently purchased a Streetpilot C320 from Handtec.com which came with Version 7 of the mapsource. On the 25th August I e-mailed upgradeoffer.europe@garmin.com asking for the V8 version, as per the Garmin website instructions.

On experience how long does it take them to send the CD/DVD out after e-mailing. I've yet to here anything back at all

Ta for any info :D

Good luck - My dad has V7 on his Nuvi 350 Europe but has repeatedly had upgrades refused by Garmin as they claim no V7 maps were sold on the Nuvi in Britain. I hope its not the same for you with the C320.

I've been told V9 will be available in July next year though

The DVDs for CityNavigator v8 [there is no CitySelect v8] are sometimes out of stock or maybee the staff are on holiday.
When they arrive they are of no value until you unlock them!
You will have to prove to Garmin that you are entitled to the free unlock codes!

If you cannot get the free unlock codes, then it would be tempting to wait for v9 in 2007, rather than spending the £40approx. for the four remaining months of 2006!!!

Why did you buy the unit now, with mapping software 8 months out of date?
Did you get a rebate from your supplier?
Can you get a rebate even now for 8 months out of date software?

Call me niave, but when I purchased I was unaware of all the ins and outs of mapping software etc..

I can prove that my unit came with version 7, all registered on MyGarmin etc..

I'll sweat it out for another week or two and see how things go then. Thanks for all your help.

:D

I don't think it matters if you register late to qualify for an upgrade. The Quest I purchased via eBay came with CS v6, the previous owner had failed to register so I did. As a result I qualified for a free upgrade to CN v8, this has now been received and unlocked.
