Hi

I'm currently using a Fortuna 'Clip-On' Bluetooth GPS Receiver (SiRF Xtrac chip) with an IPAQ H2210 PDA, running TT2. Next week I will be changing it for a RoyalTek Safire 'wired' receiver due to the fact that I a) only use it in my car, and b) can keep both PDA and GPS receiver permanantly powered using only one cable.

Being a newbie I do not know the procedure for changing this, software configuration wise. Obviously the IPAQ needs to be told that it is now using the RoyalTek unit rather than the currently installed Fortuna Bluetooth unit.

Can any body help with 'idiot' instructions!

Any help appreciated

Best regards

Matt J

Start TomTom Navigator.

In anything except the Navigator screen, select File -> GPS Status.

Select the second tab at the bottom of the screen, remove the tick from the big box at the top left of the screen by tapping on it.

Drop down the top list and select the correct GPS type. "NMEA 0183v2 4800" should be fine with the Sapphire.

Drop down the bottom list and choose the COM port - it should be COM1: (or contain COM1 somewhere in the description).

Put the tick back in the big box.

(Optional - but recommended!) tap back on the first tab and check that everything is working - you should see scrolling dots, the time, and eventually bars and a position. You will need power applied for it all to work.

Tap OK.
