Hi guys.

My Garmin Nuvi 300 arrived this morning.
Before I turn it on and start playing with it is there anything I should do ?

When should I download the camera database from here ?

Hi Vizbox.
Charging it would be a good start. :D Laughing Out Loud.
But seriously, once charged, turn it on and play away.

You can download the camera database whenever you like.
You might want to tweak the distance settings for camera warnings using Ash10's or cbrom's software utilities that are stickies at the top of the page. Both work well, and it has to be said they've both done excellent work. :D
Other than that enjoy. You should be impressed.
Any queries post away.

CeeJay.

Seemed to be fully charged already !

I have loaded the POI from this site and tested on a local speed camera. Works fine.

One thing i've found strange though, I searched for local fast food places and the nearest MacDonalds came up as 18 miles away ! I know there is one about 2 miles away. Any idea's why ?

Also I live a new build home with a couple of roads. These also fail to even show on the maps, and of course the same goes for my postcode.

same as paper maps... it takes a while for maps to be updated

as for mcdonalds etc - the built in poi's aren't that great. try the free ones from http://www.garminpoi.co.uk
