flung the actual tom tom on the grass which i now have back minus the card

There is always the chance that when the unit hit the ground the SD Card popped out and you overlooked it. It won't be any good to anyone else because of the Device ID.

After you contacted TomTom, as advised, it would be interesting to hear how good they are with their after sales in these circumstances.

As I said it's maybe the circumstances or the way you wrote the original posting that just sounded a little off key for my liking.

If someone with 100 or so postings wrote the same post I doubt I'd have given it a 2nd thought.

But you've got the backup so all is well and I've got to point out that you really are the luckiest TT Victim on record I ever in the history of Vehicle satnavs.

Glad you're sorted and sorry for my misunderstanding.

If read in a certain way it sounds a bit odd, nicked the TT just for the card?
Go to all the trouble and risk of stealing what's obviously a valuble item to thieves everywhere, and throw away the money bit?
"can a used card be used?" Do you need to register with a used card?"

And to cap it all a brand new forum member, only 3 postings and just on this thread.

Maybe I reading it wrong cos I've just had a TT300 stolen and feeling a bit raw over the whole incident, after hearing how common place satnav theft from cars actually is.
So if that's the case then apologise in advance. It's a persective thing, just depends how you look at it I guess.

hiya look i might be a new menber with only three postings and just on this thread , but so were you also a new member who would have had only three postings at one point in time, but sorry to tell you i am not aware of any other place to ask for a bit of help give me a break please. i have looked all over for help but thought this forum would be of help since its about sat nav, and ime not good with all this computer stuff. it may just be the way ive worded my first post, but like you i am seething to think ive had my car vanalised and my property stolen and its me who has to put things right. sorry if i sounded harsh but i think i have the right to defend myself, but i was only asking a question and hoping for some helpand thank you to those who have helped and yes i did have a back up after all thank you once again
