Hi peeps.
That's exactly what I'm getting and, as Mike says, no nav prompts at the time.
I'm sure it must be something to do with the Text To Speech function if the 510 & 710 don't do it.
Off to e-mail Tom Tom.

CeeJay.

Does it also happen if you use a non-text-to-speech voice?
Could someone who has this problem do an experiment to see?

I have noticed today, after a trip down the M42 that I get a warming for the first variable speed limit camera (both visual and audio) but the next camera only gives me the visual warning. I don't get another voice warning until the Tomtom gives me another route instruction, that seems to reset things, as I then get both audio and visual warnings for the next camera but only visual for the one after etc.

Very strange

Definitely sounding like a software bug. Get that report into TomTom!

I'm now pretty sure that it only happens when it's another camera of the same type as the one it last warned you about.

After another trip down the M42, I can confirm it only happens when the second alert is of the same POI category, i.e same type & speed of camera.
A navigating voice instruction resets the "count" so that a new POI audible alert will be made (second and third warnings only get visual warning), you can prove this by forcing a navigating instruction (tap lower left of navigating screen) you will then get the next POI warning as visual and audible.

I have emailed Tomtom support and await a reply.

Hi vickyarcher.
You beat me to it.
I just sussed that out driving to work last night and just got back to my PC.
What I've found is that it will 'reset' after every camera warning if you force a navigation instruction in between every camera.
This only applies where there are cameras on the same road.
If a spoken navigation instruction happens (e.g. turn left, turn right etc.) in between cameras you will always get the camera warning.
I'm afraid I disagree with you on the 'same type & speed of camera' though.
I have a redlight camera after a gatso near me (boy they must really want my money Evil or Very Mad ), and the redlight warning doesn't happen after the gatso (unless of course I force a navigation instruction in between).
So for now guys & gals, the only way to get a warning for every camera is to force a navigation instruction after every camera.
Pain I know, but I too have logged this with Tom Tom and this is their reply I received yesterday.

So at least they appear to be acknowledging that there is a bug of sorts.

Having seen the benefits of TTS with POI's I wonder if it's possible to widen it's scope?

For instance.

Prefix the text you require to be spoken with characters to alter the volume or speed that is spoken.

Examples

Sorry but I can't get this post to accept actual symbols why?

(hash greater than) to increase volume 1 step

Multiple Greater than's to increase more steps

(hash less than) to lower volume etc.

(asterisk less than) to slowdown the speed it is spoken

Maybe some form is already available if so is it compatible with the 910
