The CD has a backup program, NOT an actual backup.
Unfortunately, early versions only backed up your personal settings, not everything.
Hopefully you have a folder on your PC somewhere called something like "TomTomGo-ABC12 345DE" which for a Go 300 should be about 110MB in size.
If it is, you are in with a very good chance of recovering everything.
If it isn't, I'm afraid you just need to buy a new map on SD card (GB map on TomTom website is €59.95). All the software will come on the card already.

Is it me or the lateness of the hour??
If read in a certain way it sounds a bit odd, nicked the TT just for the card?
Go to all the trouble and risk of stealing what's obviously a valuble item to thieves everywhere, and throw away the money bit?
"can a used card be used?" Do you need to register with a used card?"

And to cap it all a brand new forum member, only 3 postings and just on this thread.

Maybe I reading it wrong cos I've just had a TT300 stolen and feeling a bit raw over the whole incident, after hearing how common place satnav theft from cars actually is.

So if that's the case then apologise in advance. It's a persective thing, just depends how you look at it I guess.

It is rather odd and given the issue I'd suggest the OP contacts TomTom direct. With proof of purchase they'll assist you.

I do however find it difficult to believe that the GO was discarded in favour of the SD card.

Theiving little scrotes. prolly got scared that they could be tracked as it was a GPS device so threw it. Have a look on ebay, not for a new one but for yours. Cant imagine somone would sell it blank.

SD cards which is what you need are so cheap, think its about £12 for a 1gig card.

update, 128mb card from ebuyer only £5.49 Inc. VAT

512mb £9.08 Inc. VAT

All you need then is the data which will be on your backup or if you can obtain one from somewhere else.

I very much doubt that any low-life who breaks into cars would be losing much sleep over having pirated software.

hiya look i might be a new menber with only three postings and just on this thread , but so were you also a new member who would have had only three postings at one point in time, but sorry to tell you i am not aware of any other place to ask for a bit of help give me a break please. i have looked all over for help but thought this forum would be of help since its about sat nav, and ime not good with all this computer stuff. it may just be the way ive worded my first post, but like you i am seething to think ive had my car vanalised and my property stolen and its me who has to put things right. sorry if i sounded harsh but i think i have the right to defend myself, but i was only asking a question and hoping for some helpand thank you to those who have helped and yes i did have a back up after all thank you once again

Margy, I'm sure you will agree that from our perspective it's an unusual case, I'm an ex Police Officer and it's akin to thieves stealing a stereo and discarding it in favour of the cassette tape inside it!

However, if you have simply been the unfortunate victim of a witless thief (and there are many of them!) then I'm sure I speak for everyone here when I say we sympathise. My advice is still to contact TomTom directly for assistance.
