Just downloaded the latest db (49 zipped files), and loaded to Garmin Quest II via Garmin POI loader. In the Find, Custom POI menu, I can see the data (MOBILE:11118 etc.). But:

1 If I scroll to "All Categories", press "OK", the Garmin crashes.
2 When running, I cant see any database POI's on the map.
3 When driving passed camera locations, there is no alert.
4 Does Garmin support the bit map icons, i.e., will POI loader automatically load these?

What have I done wrong please?

Hi Thunderbird

I had the same problem with my Quest crashing when viewing 'all'. Make sure that you have the latest firmware installed (2.60). This will correct the crashing problem.
Just got to either the Garmin website or try Roberts site http://www.elsinga.net/quest2firmwares.html

Hope this helps

Nigel

Nigel Hi,

Thanks for your help; its much appreciated. V2.60 is now loaded and no more crashes as you said.

Any idea why I don’t get a warning when I pass the speed camera locations? What did you do to load the db and get it to work?

Regards,

Nick

Hi Nick

I think that if you are under or on the speed limit the warning will not show.

I downloaded the database to the desk top
Uncompressed it using Winrar to an empty folder on the desktop
Connected Quest 2 to my pc
Opened up POI loader (Downloaded From Garmin website)
This prompts you with what to do
Loaded files from folder containg the uncompressed files

Hope this helps

Nigel,

You are absolutely right. I initially passed a known temporary site at a speed less than the limit because I was blocked by traffic. Having been down the same road "at a different speed" for a test, the alarm works.

So, thanks for your advice. It works out okay now. And thanks also for the link to Robert's site; its very useful for a beginner like me.

Regards,

Nick
