Hi
I wonder if anyway can help me out..

I've had my Quest a few weeks, I know my round gps - I had various versions for years (emap, SPIII, 2610, 2620, Quest), and all the firmware & maps are up to date.

Yesterday, the unit repeatedly gave the 'POOR SATELLITE RECEIPT' (or whatever the exact words are) message, at first I thought nothing of it, as occasionally they all loss the sats, but after this happened a number of times whilst I was navigating the unit became unusable, because it was taking ages to re-find the sats - fortunately a mate came to my rescue wit his SPIII.

I will add at this point that the unit was running on a fully charged internal battery, mounted onto a bike with a clear unhindered view of the very clear sky, the gps setting is set to ‘normal’.

After lunch, the Quest started to navigate, but within 10 miles 'POOR SATELLITE RECEIPT' was on the screen again, but this time no sats for well over an hour!!!

I got home, switched to GPS INFO and watched, nothing! Then 8 or more sats appeared, then all together they all vanish, not reducing in strength, not going off one at a time, but rather all together like a switch has been turn off.

Today, out in the car with GPS INFO on the screen for hours - the exact same problems repeated themselves - 8+ sats then none, like a switch, then after a while they all reappear at once,

I can't stress enough that this is NOT the usual occurrences of sats fading in & out of strength or viewability by the unit.

I'm tending to lean towards a loose connection or dry joint, as at this moment the unit is fixed inside my lounge window, showing 5 or so sats (as I would expect with it limited 'view' of the sky). The unit has remained working, untouched for a couple of hours. BUT of course there is no vibration in its present situ.

Any ideas?

ta
Peter

However, knocking the unit in a left/right motion seems to recreate the problem.

So Garmin have a stock of Quests - wonder if and when they will sell them off?
