I have Quest 1 and need to mount it on the bike asap now the sun may make an appearance..fingers crossed. My question is, do I pay the dosh to the quest people or the RAM? people? what are the pro's and con's on each please.
Any advice/help appreciated.

full picture is...I brought the autocom to hook the Nav into, (I know Skippy don't bother, I will try your way as well Skip) but all I need is the correct mount. After reading Jacks other thread "mounting a Quest", it seems it can be costly and a bit of a nightmare.

So come on, help freddie make the right choice. I'm glad I brought the quest. worked wonders so far in the car.

and finally, did you guys see this months Ride mag ( May ed page 38)? Sat nav test and guess what came out BEST BUY?

My Quest...Hoorah!!!

You will need the quest bike mount which is around the £50 mark and a RAM mount to connect that to your bike. That will be around £30.

Hope this helps.

Yikes, 80 bucks just to mount it?!!! that's what I am fearful of.

Is there a more cost effective method?

(uh-oh it's Skippy again!) Laughing

I think you can dismantle the Garmin car mount and take the little electrical connector out and fit it to your RAM mount. Watch out because the speaker unit for the cigarette lighter has a voltage regulator built-in so don't just chomp the cable off and hard wire it or you will probably fry your Quest!

You can then get a RAM mount for the car and use the same RAM cradle with a different mounting arm (ie suction cup one).

Bit of messing about, I've not gotten around to trying it yet.
