I've had an absolutely awful time with Powerloc and Destinator.

Basically I bought the software and maps for a trip to Europe. I bought the US version and the European maps package. I bought them directly from Powerloc and I bought both software packages at the same time.

I bought the US map package to get familiar with the program. I paid a total of $481 to Powerloc.

The problem was that they sent version 2 of the software and version 1 of the European maps. The European maps could not be read by their version 2 software. They promised to overnight the correct package to our first destination in London. They didn't send it. The map package was useless for our 3 week trip in Europe.

I've returned their software after calling and getting an RMA.
So far they've denied receipt of the returned software, they've been sent tracking information several times, they've then admitted they got the software, they've claimed they've "lost" the box. They've requested credit card information, claimed they lost the information, been resupplied the information again, and then acknowledged that they did get the information the first time. They now say it's been too long to credit a credit card due to Master Card's new policies. Master Card says there's no problem with crediting an account regardless of how long it's been. Powerloc had then promised to send a check but hasn't. The whole ordeal is too long to post here

I've posted the email interchange at http://www.7volts.com/powerloc.htm

You can read this if you like. I certainly wish I'd seen a post like this before paying them $481.

Next, I'll dispute the charge. MasterCard tells me there's no time limit on this.

If anyone has any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them. PowerLoc is a Canadian company so I don't think it will help to file complaints with any US governmental agency.

I must admit I have not a great time with PowerLOC, there support is not brilliant, but they have sorted problems eventually. No exp. of buying stuff from them, but certainly not looking forward to upgrading to D3.
