Hi

I have an Magellan SportTrack pro that have a lot of datum's.
My question is when to use one or other of those datum's if I only can use the maps by Magellan? Confused

Thanks in advance Wink

Regards

The other datum settings are for when you are using paper maps.
Ie. GRB36 for OS maps. some french and spanish maps use EUR50 as the datum, and a lot more use WGS84.
It depends on the country your visiting and who made the map!
The magellan maps you refer to are, I assume, the software add on's?

Hi yearnslow

The map I use is the one that came with the GPS - base map - and the country is Portugal.

I don't know if it is a problem with datum's but most of the times, the GPS arrow shows me that I'm off track. I'm walking or driving on a road and on the GPS, most of the times, "tells me" I'm at right or left of that road (even with 8 or more satellites on sight and almost full signal). I tried with several options (datum's combinations) but the result is the same. :x
I don't know why or what to do to have an acurate information. Sad

Thanks
Regards

This is a fairly common feature with most gps's with base maps I'm afraid.
There really is no answer to it. they just are not that accurate. I have got topo uk for my magellan sportrack which enables me to load up to the unit detailed topo maps which are enabled by Ordanance survey. they are quite accurate and I rarely get 'off track' readings. I would find out if there is anything similar for portugal.
