|
|
Using a card reader I copied the TT One SD card contents to a folder on my computer then copied the files back to a blank SD card so I could keep the original safe.
When I put in this copied SD card the One asks to be activated, I enter the code supplied with the unit but it come up saying it is not a valid activation code for the UK map.
Any suggestions about what I might have done wrong and what I should try next?

When you copied the original card did you select show hidden files in windows explorer on the PC? this usually works for TTN but not 100% sure as to the unit you have, it might be worth a try though - Mike |

I think you may need to use the CD to create a back up rather than just copying the card. You then create the backup with you TomTom plugged into a USB port rather than taking the card out and using a reader. I first created a back-up and then copied the backup onto a new SD card and this worked OK for me.

I have a TTOne, and did exactly the same thing as JimC - copied original card via a card reader, but ensured that I had the Explorer option checked to show hidden files. Copied back to larger card (again via card reader), and it worked in the TTOne, no problems.
The cd backup option will undoubtedly work, but it will be alot slower than a usb2 cardreader |

The code on the card is NOT the activation code. The code on the card is the "Product Code". Go to www.ttcode.com and enter the Product Code and the Device Code from the ONE (Change Prefs/Show Version). This will get you an activation code to enter. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

I've got to add that, when I performed by copy/restore to a new card, I was not asked for an activation code - this makes me think that there may be a file or two missing from that original copy. |

If you do a complete copy and restore you won't get asked for the activation code, but if you then update the system, especially a major upgrade upgrade say from 4.42 to 5.2 you probably will be. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)
