Hi. Forgive my total ignorance, but are maps imbedded in software or are they separate? I live in Northern Ireland and the best mapping available is Navteq at the moment but I am wondering whether it is possible to use the maps bundled with a Medion PNA 175 but to use different software such as Tom Tom Navigator. I heard somewhere that Tom Tom uses Navteq Mapping but I am not sure about this.

Could anyone give me some pointers?

Thanks, Stefan

Not sure, but I'm lookin for a mapping solution to match my XDA Exec in NI, and I'm leaning towards the Navteq equipped Copilot 6.

maps are embedded, and you cannot swap one map provider out for another.

Having said that TomTom have purchased map licenses both from TeleAtlas and from Navteq, so TomTom COULD provide different maps for the same area. Mind you , the TomTom Rider uses Navteq maps, all other products use TeleAtlas maps.

In fact the RIDER comes with a NAVTEQ map of the area in which it was purchased, but it can also use their TA maps.
