Try this.

This is the UK IKEA Locations with a .bmp graphic. I'll get them uploaded to the main download site later.

Darren,

I've converted the file for use with CoPilot but found that the two sites I checked (the ones I have visited) were slightly off. I'd be interested to know if the locations are correct when used on TTN. Also, did my conversion process strip off the last site or was Wednesbury missing from the list?

The graphic below shows the difference between the location of the Brent Park site in the TTN poi file (the right arrow) and its actual location (the left arrow)

The other one that I checked that was displaced was the Warrington site.

I found similar errors in the poi files for the English Heritage sites and one of the poi files for the National Trust sites (the NT poi file supplied by NT, however, was spot on). I haven't tried any other poi files because it takes too long to check them.

After all that I'd better repeat my main question. Does TTN display the location correctly?

Darren,

I need to correct what I said in the post above. The right hand arrow shows the location of the Brent Park Ikea site given in the TTN poi file after translation for use in CoPilot. I don't have any way of checking the TTN file directly, hence my question. I'm trying to find out if my conversion process is wrong.

The coordinates that I extracted from the TTN poi file were

Lat: 51.55441

Lon: -0.25386

Should/could this thread be moved to the poi forum?

Thud, It's most likely my error. Ikea's website does not provide much help in locating the exact position of the stores and because many are on industrial sites even using the Post Code and Multimap doesn't help so it was a best effort.

I was working on the basis that having got that close you are unlikely to miss the huge Yellow & Blue warehouse!

www.streetmap.co.uk provides a good conversion from postcode to latitude and longitude. Although, as you say, absolute accuracy is not really required for Ikea warehouses.

By all means ammend the POI file. If you do, email it back to me and I'll upload the corrected version
