The 2720 uses a hard drive so how would that survive on a bike

A bike environment would give it a hard time. Vibration will be significantly more than a car and leaning everytime for corners won't help. If it breaks, say you had it in the car, would be my advice!

Hi
I think you will find Garmin are using a different type of hard drive now for the 2720 but please double check

The term I have seen used is "solid state" Perhaps a technophobe can tell us what that is

Sure! Laughing

"Solid State" means "no moving parts". The memory is made of silicon memory (which is shock proof) as opposed to a tiny hard drive with a spinning disk and delicate mechanism to read the disk (which isn't very shock proof).

You don’t want to have moving parts on a bike (my cbr does not vibrate that much but the Yamaha i did my DAS on was really bad for it). If you moving parts and the vibration could damage these parts.
