A much better alternative is this

I found this interesting box (FastMute) which make it possible to connect ANY PDA to your ( 2 ) car speakers (stereo).
No special radio required.
The box has a Mute-Generator (VOX) implemented.
In the moment (5ms later) the internal car speakers are switched off and the PDA sound comes amplified (real 12W sin) to your car speakers.
There is only one 2 wire connection, from the ear phone jack to that box.
2 sec after the PDA sound has finished the speaker will be switched back (fall back) to your radio.
If your radio has a MUTE-IN, you can mute your radio for this time.
If you have 4 or more speakers.
If you have a DIN loudspeaker (mostly standard) connector just remove connectors from your radio and plug this box in between, connect to earphone output and power it, that's all.

Add-On implemented for PDA MP3 users.
Autodetect for music. If the box is detecting music the fall back time will now be changed from 2s to now 15s. So no low volume music will cause any jitter in switching.

You can find this box here

All well and good - and something that a fair few people would buy I suspect - but I further guess this FastMute suffers from the problem of the Qubit - that is availability!

If you check the features, you will find much more.
Much better and more powerful audio section.

Free additional telephone input (handsfree device)
Controls 2 speakers instead of only one
12W RMS audio amplifier for 2 (two) standard speakers.
Autodetect of music
Fused powersupply for your PDA
etc

The point is which not which is better - but availability.

If you can't get hold of the product, it may as well be caked on gold for all I care - its useless.

I don't want to put a dampener on this device, but...

If all anyone wants to do is increase the sound of their GPS, to me this device seems like trying to use a sledgehammer to crack a monkey nut.

I really do think we humans very often over complicate things when we try to solve the simplest of problems.

All I use is a small battery powered speaker (with volume control) that solved the problem of low volume from my HP rx-5720 in seconds Wink

These type of speakers are very light, they come in all colours to match your car interior Rolling Eyes You can mount the speaker anywhere you like. All you need a piece of Velcro stuck on the case...job done!

And because they're battery powered - no unsightly power cables required!

And the icing on the cake is anyone can get these type of speakers for under £10.

Best regards,

Del
