Ok - I am only 48 hours into this test - but I read elsewhere on the forum that removing the TomTom Bluetooth support had on occasion fixed some of the issues with CF GPS Devices - so I did - and it did - I now get a lock within 5 minutes - at most. Obviously the other issues still exist - but this was one of the major gripes that made TTN5 utterly unusable. I can only assume that the Bluetooth support in TTN5 is shoddy - and messes up other parts of the system - it's removal fixes this - only issue now - I cannot use my CF Device in it's Bluetooth slipper - but I guess you cannot have everything

I was having exactly the same problems with my upgrade from TTN3 to TTN3 with the SD card. Occasionaly on TTN3 I had to eject the card and reseat it to find the maps. Once I had done the upgrade to TTN5 this kept happening almost every other time, asking to accept the disclaimer etc. I had a SANDISK 1Gb SD card but have now changed it to a cheap 1Gb Viking SD card from www.ebuyer.co.uk. All of the problems have now been resolved the TTN5 starts everytime. I have now been running this daily for the last 3-4 weeks without a problem.

I have no other problems using my 3970 with a hardwired Leadtek/TomTom GPS. Recently I have purchased a Bluetooth GPS receiver from www.pcglobe.co.uk and this works 100% and would reccomend this Bluetooth GPS for £49.99 it's a bargain.

I have had some problems with a Holux CF running on a collegues' 2210 which I hope to resolve by using the above Bluetooth GPS. Reading these pages of the forum it looks as if removing the Bluetooth support from TTN5 may resolve the problem with CF GPS I will try this once I can get the CF GPS of the collegue. Can anyone tell me how to remove the Bluetooth GPS support. Is it just remove it using the Add/Remove programs ?

I hope that this is of some help to you all as I found it quite frustrating after using TTN3 without problems and upgrading to TTN5 caused suuch a headache. I would still like to have the facility to record the current position with 2 taps of the screen like TTN3. Perhaps someone out there may modify the program to allow this like on TomTom GO. Someone has written a program to allow this it looks as if the PDA possie are getting left behind !

Yup - just use Remove Programs to blow away the TomTom Bluetooth - it made a massive difference for me

Amusingly TomTom support told me that this was not a valid solution to my problem and could not support me after I had removed this module - yadda yadda yadda - whatever TomTom - it now works and is usable as opposed to the bog standard install that did not work to any standard of usability
