Hi Neil,

Did you send the Application CD back as well or do they just want the Miomap CD's?

Hi Laurence,

They asked only for the MioMap Cd plus maps - so the master CD plus the two other European Maps CD's - kept my copy of the applications cd.

14 euro's so not too bad really. Looks like the new Mio 269 plus has a faster processor and TMC.

All the best

Neil

Just looked now and it seems pretty straight forward in shop
http://www.mio-tech.be/shop/index.php?cPath=34

Before I try this, I really need to find out is it worth it.... Anybody else got a 269 here and how do they find it???

Mine is so bad it is unusable and I am really annoyed at spending that much money on it and I am just back from Paris where I had to leave it in hotel room and buy a map!!!!!!

It is unbelievably slow and inaccurate. If I press the zoom in button, the screen freezes for about 10-12 seconds and then redrwas and the same if I zoom out. Sometimes the map displays upside down and writing is backwards etc. It really is the pits

Is an upgrade really going to sort this or have I got bigger problems? Tried a friends older Navman 520 recentlyand its seamless! I can zoom in and out instantly. I can even pan maps etc, but cant do any of these with mine.
REALLY desperate here for some feedback

I've had my 269 for about a month now, and have no problems with it what so ever. I can zoom in and out and only takes one or two sec to redraw. I can also pan the map.
I have POI-Warner installed, and it also works like a charm.
So it looks like it's your machine that is faulty. Mayby you can return it and get a new one ?

Hi Ritter
Thank you very much
This is what I wanted to hear. I could not believe that a product as bad as mine could be released on the market.

Now I need to sort out exchanging it. I live in Ireland but purchased it in Brugge.

Great to know thats it not just the Mio 269 but that it seems to be a fault with mine

As with you all I didnt get a reply to my email from Mio but on the plus side I have just sent off for the upgrade.

I got Tom Tom installed and prefer to use this as it is slicker and easier to navigate with but I prefer the mapping of the Mio. Lets hope the new ones better.

i've mentioned it's still true..mio's customer service suck. they couldn't care less or at least they continue to answer any mail that i send to'em. very, very poor, mio.

anyway, i just read this about the firmware on their faq, which might be of interest to most of u out there..

How can I find out the ROM Image version that is installed on my Mio268/269 ?
Last update: 2005-09-29 09:11

Simply do a soft reset by pushing your stylus in the little hole on the right side, below the earphone output socket.
The version can be read from the left upper corner on a black screen during a few seconds while restarting.
Version number is displayed after the model number.
For example: 268.R16.4.101.422.
ROM Image version is R16.
For some new accessories the ROM Image version needs to be up-to-date. Currently Mio does not release ROM Images to the public. However, we are working on a ROM Image patch which will be added to the accessories that requires newer ROM version.

so maybe there's hope for tmc for all us pre-fw16-unit owners after all. if mio do in fact release such an upgrade, then i'm more than willing to forgive and forget!

Regarding Mio's support, I've had luck with writing to the Belgium support whenever i need something answered. I may take a week or so, but the usually answer me.

Hello everyone

Well i ordered the MIOMAP Version 2 ugradede from Mio in Belgium
should be here by 15th October, unless anyone in England has it now?

Anyway, my Mio 268 Sat Nav unit is FAULTY!
Battery dont last more than an hour, it constantly charges and never gets fully charged, i have sent it off to one of their repair centres in the UK, and am praying they can get it like new or fix it!

anyone had problems like this?
was driving home the other day from a 250 mile trip, was working OK, then it just went off! my in car charger and home AC power adaptors are brand new from MIO aswell... so its not faulty items there..

had nothing but bad luck from MIO

Hi, Waynester.

I ordered the UK upgrade and email said it would be shipped 'from' 15th October, so could be a while yet if they encounter any slippage..

Ordered a battery extender for mine (see top of page). Did a quick 'test' in that i set oziexplorer running and just left it sitting on a table.
Without extender got 3h45min. With extender got bored after 8hrs... still had charge left, though i'm not sure how much. I used 4 2100ma ni-mh batterys. ebay seller was very good - answered my queries and posted it promptly, incase anyone else was thinking of getting one.

Noticed mio website saying upgrades will not be shipped until end of October now!!!!

Have much longer are we expected to wait to get something that actually does the job it is advertised to do???

valid question! in my mind it's a matter of lowering the expectations, mio has proven several times that they aren't too concerned with boring stuff like customer care so.. let's just hope that the end of october is the final date, but again, i wouldn't be all that surprised if they postponed again.
