Hi All,

I'm currently running a 3970 with NAVMAN 3000 sleeve, but am thinking about replacing the sleeve with a TomTom Bluetooth GPS Receiver.

My current mount setup is a simple windscreen suction to the sleeve. When I get rid of the sleeve what would be the best way to mount the IPAQ and BT receiver? I know there a few reviews of mounts but it's all a bit baffling and you can't beat first hand experience. The solution would need to be fairly portable as I use hire cars a lot.

If it's any help the main car will be a BMW 3 series Coupe (new model).

Also, will this receiver work with most software solutions (Destinator 2, Mapopolis, etc.)? I expect it will being Sirf 2 but just wanted to check.

Loads of thanks,

Clem

Clem, you have two options. Some people keep the sleeve, and still have this fixed to the iPAQ which would still work, or if you prefer windscreen mounts go for a Arkon CM629. It's the same as the CM656, but it doesn't have an FM Modulator built into the back of the cradle mount. Arkon also do a vent based mount if you'd prefer this. Other options are Brodit mounts, or Seidio. Take a look at our Mount Reviews which should help a little. The Emtac/Socket BT GPS and TomTom BT GPS will work with Mapopolis, Destinator I believe is now fixed but did have some initial teething problems. It will be SiRF II.

Dave,

Thanks for the quick reply.

I think I'll wait and see how the TomTom car kit is received. If I change at all - I've got the NAVMAN sleeve working in Sirf mode and Destinator 2 now works fine.

Cheers

Clem
